I usually try to keep my opinion to myself, unless I'm with someone I know very well... I do want to know your opinion though! How do you feel about toddler beauty pagents? Now, what about the use of energy drinks to keep the children alert during them??
I will say, I see both sides of the pageants. They learn they don't need to be the best to be good, that winning isn't everything, and that they have something to offer the world. I think it is good for children to have an interest and an activity. However, I do feel sometimes that they go just a bit too far. I would like to see cute little girls and boys who look just that, cute and young. I'm not sure that using so much make up and some of the costumes is beneficial to the children, but I'm not a professional so I could very well be wrong. I simply feel it sets high standards for how they think they need to look, and this could easily enter their daily lives. Again, this is MY personal opinion, and before you pounce on my statements, I do see the value in them, and I could potentially consider the natural pageants for my own child, I just don't think I'll do them.
However, I do feel a bit more strongly about the energy drinks. This stems from the fact that I don't even like them for adults. I don't see any way that it could possibly be good for your body. Yes, I drink coffee, and pop, and I eat too much sugar. I now see the effects that these habits and addictions have on my body and my mind, and I wish that I had not allowed their usage to get to this point. I don't let my child have them though. I'm not perfect, a little sip or two of pop here and there, but never a full glass, and I don't feel children need koolAid or candy, it may be a nice treat sometimes, but I don't allow it every day.
So, you've seen MY opinions, I'm interested in yours. Please keep in mind this is not to insult anyone or to put down their parenting skills. We all mak
