I'm not a trainer, gym teacher, or active person. I watch other moms and I review my day, and I think I've learned a few tricks to fitting in a work out every day, without leaving my house.
Cardio: carrying sleeping preschooler to bed at night or to breakfast in the morning. Luckily you start carrying an infant so you can grow your strength as they grow.
chase and catch running toddler when on a walk, grocery shopping, or trying to leave the house
run after young child on bike an catch up before they get to the corner
speed vacuum so the crying stops faster
Strength training: put child in/out of high hair, carseat, grocery cart, etc. carry laundry, groceries, toys, library books, book bags, etc everywhere they need to go.
Step training: walk aroundinefield of toys and clothe that explodes around the house daily. For added calorie burning bend and pick up, or add squats, to put away all items. Repeat every hour when they reappear on the floor and furniture.
Yoga: teach it too your children. Use animal and other fun names. Added bonus is it may help them calm and slow down for a few minutes as well. Can also be used when trying to catch children from odd hiding places, reach whatever they dropped and can't reach, put away clean laundry with at least one child to reach around, or put dangerous toys and food, as well as confiscated toys and food out of reach.
Other exercises include: carry laundry up and down the stairs, walk to mail box and retrieve bills daily, move furniture to fun and clean whatever is behind it, sweep, mop, walk for hours carrying baby, and DANCE every day.
