Honestly this post is a waste of my energy but I"m going to do it anyway because some people are just too in my face about my choices. Yes, I have cable, yes, we watch TV daily, and no I'm not changing that any time soon. You know what? I have a HOME PHONE too!! I know, it's shocking! I have watched Netflix. I learned that it takes 10 times longer to get into and find what I want then it does to just push one single power button on my TV and then pick my channel. Call it lazy if you want, but when I'm up at 3 am with a sick kid I don't want to turn on the TV, choose the right AV input, turn on whatever device NetFlix is loaded onto, wait for Netflix to load, then scroll through or search all that stuff to find what I want. I want to push the on button and let the mind-numbing programming entertain me while I rock said sick child. This pretty much goes for most times i turn the TV on. Maybe it costs me a bit more but I like the convenience I have a home phone because I have a child and a life. Doctors, lawyers, other parents, teachers, schools, mechanics, family, friends, etc, etc. Who has the minutes and battery power for all that? I also have a home phone so in the event of an emergency the line is traceable for location. I also happen to have a child at home, a child who I will NOT give a cell phone too. Partly because that's ridiculous at this age, and partly because a cell phone just for a child in case of emergencies is still $40+ each month. My landline is less then $20, it works when my cell battery dies, the none-cordless version works when the power is out, and it's just handy to have. I get 1 or 2 callers every few months looking for donations or something, I get at least 3 scam calls on my cell phone every month. Ultimately what it comes down to isn't TV, it's not a phone, it's respect for someone's choices and lifestyle. Oh and when the cell reception goes down, feel free to call me :)
