This summer my girl has a whole list of things she wants to do. I'll be postin lots more crafts, so keep watch for those!!
I wanted to address ways to save money while still doing things you'll love. This isn't free activities, but once that can be done on a low budget, and some ways to save on activities. Free things are great, and I'll certainly post about those later, but there are some great ways to save money and still go out and learn new things.
One of my favorite ways to save money in the summer is using an AMA or CAA card. Belonging to the CAA saves money in so many ways. I get rows if I break down, I save on fees by using their registry office, travel deals, and lots of deals on local summer fun.
-movie tickets and dinner and a movie are cheaper when purchased ahead of time at your local CAS office, and you can still get Scene rewards points at the theatre
-attractions passes can be significantly cheaper when purchased at the local CAS office, and you can yet yearly passes as well. We use the passes for museums, historical sites, waterparks, etc to fill in some of our days. Once you have a pass you can just pack up and go in the morning.
-discounts on site for attractions and events. There are several locations Canada wide that offer a discount when you show your CAA card, making a family day out more affordable.
-save more money by filling up your car at gas stations who offer points on your CAA card for every liter purchased or even on extras purchased in the store.
-get friends together and go as a group. Several places offer a discount on group rates so go ahead and make a group!
-purchase necessary items for summer in bulk and split the cost between a few families. I recently did this with sunscreen, bug spray, napkins/paper towel, and pre packaged snacks (not my favorite but easy to travel with as you usually don't have to keep then as cold as other foods)
-go with friends. This makes it easier on gas, more fun, and you can share lunches.
-check your library for activities (ours has game night, movie night, and summer group activities). Also check the website for your city and see what they offer. As they usually have group activities planned its often cheaper then goin alone.
