"Everyone else does it"
I'm not sure how people feel that is a response to "Can I _______" The correct resonse is whether or not it is allowed, against the rules, against the law, etc. I honestly don't care if anyone else does it. If it's not allowed and I can get in trouble for it, then that's it. That's all that matters.
I have the kind of luck where literally everyone around me can be doing something we aren't supposed too, but as soon as I do it I get caught. Then I get in trouble. My wonderful friends or aquatiences that I'm around just find it amusing and leave me to deal with the consequences while they continue on. Go figure. One day maybe I'll be a tattle tale, but it doesn't seem worth it.
Working a DS business? The rules for social media are set and if you break them they can shut your sites/pages down. I know that very few consultants follow those rules, but that does not mean they won't be enforced. They CAN shut you down or even not allow you to represent their product at all anymore.
Speeding? It IS ticketable, and they WILL ticket you. Speeding just to keep up with traffic around you? Well that's why they have photo radar, they can and will ticket all of you, or just the ones that they catch. It's not allowed just because others are doing it, that's simply not how life works.
Lots of people take their child out of carseats early, or don't do them up properly. Again, you can be stopped at something as simple as a check stop, you can and will be ticketed, and some places have car seat safety classes that you can be forced to attend. Safety is a rule for a reason, and it's enforced.
I guess maybe I'm just a goody two shoes, but honestly that's how I was raised. In my life there are always consequences, and watching others escape them does not mean I will, and with my luck I'm the one to get caught and I'm the one to pay the fine or have my page shut down, that's just how it is. I've learned that just because everyone else does it, or so many people get away with it, that does not mean it's ok. That doesn't mean it's allowed. It surely doesn't mean it's safe. Stick to your insti
