When people visit, my house is rarely every tidy. I can make it clean, I can scrub under everything, I can scour my kitchen, but when you get here there is stuff everywhere! The ridiculous part is that the more I scrub and clean the more time she has to pull out everything we own while my back is turned.
So when I have visitors, there will be toys, clothes, and likely cups, everywhere. Often they are clean clothes, toys she's been using in the last 30 minutes, or since I left the room, and trying to keep up with what she's up to next is pretty near impossible.
I've been driving myself to exhaustion trying to make the place as clean and tidy as I can, but I've now introduced a new "good enough" attitude. If the clothes are clean and folded but not up away that's good enough. If there's only one cup in the room and it's being used, that's good enough too. And clean but untidy, sanitary but unorganized, all are now good enough. If people care enough to visit me then they understand my life and will accept that there's nothing gross or icky, just a little messy looking. It's all good enough. She'll be in school full time one day, maybe it'll be better then, but to be honest, I'll probably just find a new project.
