Some of you are laughing, I know, and I'm sure others are wondering what the point to this story is. Here's the point: we all do things sometimes that are not as serious as the rest of life. Lose your cordlesss phone in the fridge? No it doesn't mean you're losing your mind, it means you're busy or distracted. These are a sure fire sign that you need to relax and have a little fun. Laugh!! Laught at yourself, laugh at a TV show, laugh at me if you have too. It helps, honest.
Today I read a blog post about ways our kids make us late for things. I'm rarely late, and before I had a kid I was alway 15 mins early, but I saw these reasons and I giggled. It was funny. Some of the readers laughed, and others, of course, jumped on the "attack her, shes' a bad mom" bandwagon. I don't see what's wrong with a litte humour about our day. Many of the things she mentioned happen, others are just way out there and made for a little entertainment. I found it refreshing to see someone have a litle fun with their post. I might do my own later :)I just don't see why they automatically need to attack her and rant about how it's not ok to be late when things with your kids come up, how every child should be so well behaved that you always leave the house on time no matter what. Well guess what? It doesn't happen, so why not laugh about it?
I lose my keys all the time. The other day I spent some time looking for my cell phone only to notice I had it in my hand. These things could be signs that I am losing my mind, that I've killed so many brain cells I can't keep track of things. OR it could mean I'm overworked, overtired, and stressed. So I turned on a mindless and entertaining TV show where only silly things happen and no one gets hurts, and I laughed until I felt better. Today, I know where my keys AND my phone are. Taking things a little less seriously can sometimes make a huge difference in your feelings and your day.
Is it funny when someone falls on the ice? No. Is it funny that I bounced? Yup, a little. If I had been hurt it wouldn't. Is it funny when you lose your phone? Nope. Funny when you find it under the towl you just used to dry your hair and put down to check your messages? Yes! And sometimes, is there a funny story about why you are late? Heck yes, there is. A missing imaginary friend is one of my favorites, trying to find an imaginary person is funny.
