I went to my first ever coupon swap last night. I went for a few reasons, I had some coupon I knew someone else wante and I didn't, I was looking for specific coupons that I couldn't find, and I wanted to start forming contacts and friendships. I feel that I was successful on two of the three.
I was able to trade the ones I didn't want but people were looking for, for the ones I really wanted. I am much more excited then you would think about that. I know it seems sad, but I use coupons for items that I wouldn't buy otherwise, so it's almost like a treat for me, OR I use them for items that I need but didn't budget for this month. These are items I need, and didn't budget for ever, as it never occurred to me the old ones would wear out. I'm not sure how I didn't see that coming...
I did get to spend some time with grow ups, which is usually a bonus for me, but I again noticed that I need more to talk about. I don't like to talk about my ex much, but when people talk about things their husbands do all I can compare it too is what my ex used to do, this puts me in a weird place so any suggestions on how to keep my mouth shut are welcome!
All in all I felt this was a relaxed coupon swap. No one was fighting over coupons or rushing to grab them, we were very laid back and chatting which I much prefer. There also wasn't a huge focus on the value of the trade being even, but more "I don't need this, you can have it". I had a good time and feel it was a great experience. Coupon wise I think it was awesome!
I am going to keep collecting more that I don't need or want, so I can pass them on to people who want then.
